Sam Smith fans have rallied around the singer after a cruel video went viral, falsely claiming to show Smith attempting a stage dive. The video, which appears to show a person in a Ninja Turtle costume jumping off the stage, was shared on social media with many users body-shaming the individual and claiming it was Smith.
However, fans quickly came to Smith’s defense, pointing out that the video doesn’t actually show the singer. “That’s not Sam Smith,” one viewer wrote, while another added, “Despite various accounts spreading false information, Sam Smith DID not stage dive at any concert”.
It’s been confirmed that the video actually shows a man attending a Vanilla Ice concert, with additional footage showing the American rapper performing his song “Ninja Rap” onstage. Smith’s spokesperson, Lisa DiAngelo, also confirmed that the video doesn’t show the “Latch” singer.
